Basic Introduction To Spyware

Spyware is a tracking software that secretly monitors the user’s activities on the internet. It is a code or hidden application that is downloaded and installed on the user’s computer through the internet connection. After installation on the system, the spyware perform unusual activities such as slows down the speed of the system, un soliciting popup advertising, install additional software, shows advertising messages and monitor the user’s browsing, searching and other activities on the internet and sends them to someone else.

Unlike computer viruses and worms, the spyware normally does not replicate themselves. Most of the spyware are installed without the user’s notice. A very common way to get the victim of the spyware files is to get connected with the peer to peer network.

Spyware exists as independent executable files and they are capable of monitoring the keystrokes, scan hard drives, read cookies, change the browser’s security settings, install other spyware programs and change the default home page of the browser.

The spyware infected computers perform unusual behavior and they are degraded in performance. Some types of the spyware tends to modify the system’s files and in this way they are little harder to remove. Many of the spyware programs are designed simply for showing the advertising messages through the popups. Some of the known offender software that spread the spyware are Spyaxe, Antivirus Gold, Pest Trap, ErrorSafe, SysProtect, Malware, PSGuard, WinFixer, Spydawn etc.

You can also install Microsoft’s antispyware program, which is available from the Microsoft website. You can also install Windows defender program that will scan your system and detect the hidden spyware programs.
