Comptia’s Server+ Certification

Comptia’s Server+ certification is designed as a follow-up of the A+ certification. The Server+ exam certify the knowledge of the IT professional who have 18-24 months good IT experience. It is a vendor-neutral, international certification for the individuals who have strong IT experience. It is recommended that the Comptia’s Server+ candidates hold A+ Certification, which provides a strong base for this certification. 

The core components and the objectives of this certification is to train the individual with the certain IT skills such as Installing DHCP, understand the role of Primary domain controller, understand network cabling types, network communication technologies, understanding web servers, understanding SNMP, clustering, wireless networking, UP configuration, understanding backup software and devices, describe network devices and their functions, explain the common network terms, understanding routing, FTP, and understating cache memory

 

As a candidate for this certification you will also learn how to install cache module, understanding multitasking and multiprocessing, understanding RAM, ROM and memory related messages, describing components of the hard drive, understanding four disk swapping techniques, understanding network topologies, TCP/IP protocols, IP addressing, DNS, WINS, configuring SCSI devices, and performing BIOS upgrade.

 

A candidate of the Server+ exam also learn the network security concepts, disaster recovery planning, configuring antivirus software and the candidate also become capable of monitoring network activities by maintenance, service and security logs. Comptia’s server+ certification is considered next to the Comptia’s A+ certification and a good hands on experience is required on installing, diagnosing, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting the computer network software, hardware and security related issues. As with the A+ certification, server+ certification does not expire and it is awarded for lifetime. The exam code of this certification is Exam # SK0-002, time allowed for the exam is 90 minutes and the passing score is 75 %.

There is no special requirement for appearing in this exam. It is designed for the IT professionals who have good background in IT especially in networking, hardware and security. Although there are no special requirements for this certification but it is recommend to have A+ certification prior this certification.
