VOIP stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol. It is a fastest growing business in the USA and other countries.  The VOIP services are refereed as internet telephony, internet phone calls, VOIP calling cards, PC to phone calls and VOIP calls. To setup VOIP business you need difference components, infrastructure, technical team and business team. The central device to manage the calls PBX, KSU and a server running specialized software.

 

In the VOIP, your voice is tread as a data and it travels over the IP based networks.  There are different vendors that provide the VOIP hardware Cisco, Avaya, Nortel, Toshiba, Panasonic, Inter-Tel and Juniper etc.  The VOIP enables you to make long distance calls at very cheap rates. A typical VOIP call travels in the following way.

 

  • User dials the number and connects to the PSTN or telecommunication company.
  • The PSTN forwards the call to the VOIP gateway.
  • The VOIP gateway moves the calls to internet.
  • From internet gateway the voice calls travels towards the termination gateway.
  • From termination gateway, it moves forward towards the destination PSTN.
  • From destination PSTN it finally reaches at the destination user.

VOIP is ultimately dependent on the networking technologies. VOIP communication requires regular phone, broadband internet service and the subscription to VOIP service.  VOIP provides the multiple benefits to the business.  Many organizations in the world have already implemented VOIP.  VOIP enables the users to make the long distance calls at very cheap rates.
