What is Multimedia Networking

There are different network technologies that provide the support for the communications. Multimedia networking involves the communications of voice, video and data signals in the IP based and other type of computer networks.  The main feature of the multimedia networking is the simultaneous transmission of the voice, video, graphics, animations and data signals over the fixed bandwidth communication links.

More bandwidth and High speed LAN, WAN and internet connections are required to provide the support to the multimedia applications.

Most of the multimedia applications are designed for the single computing environments such as PC and Apple Talk.  The multimedia networks are extremely useful for the business critical applications that require the more bandwidth, low latency and faster communications.

The one common example of the multimedia application is video conferencing, in which participants can share voice, video and data at the same time.  High speed networks are requried to support the video conferencing and other multimedia applications. The other types of the networked multimedia applications are used in the education, stocks, forex, broadcasting, remote working, application sharing and virtual reality experiences.
