Introduction to CCNP

CCNP or Cisco Certified Network Associates is an advanced level certification by Cisco Systems. CCNP certification ensures that the certified people can configure, plan, operate in WAN-Switched and routed networks using Cisco products such as Routers and Switches. CCNP’s are capable of troubleshooting LAN, WAN of the enterprise networks of more than 100 to 500 routers. CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associates) is the prerequisite of the CCNP certification.

Some of the most important topics that are covered in this certification are virtual private networks, security, converged networks, quality of service (QoS), and broadband technologies.You need to have good knowledge of these protocols and network technologies such as Ethernet, RIP, OSPF, BGP, Frame Relay, TCP/IP, IGRP, IPX, RIP, ISDN, ATM, ISL, X.25, DDR, IOS, VLSM, Async Routing, PSTN, PPP, Access list, transational bridging, network administration and WLAN. Additionally, you should also have the knowledge of the network devices such as Routers & Switches, Modems, Hubs, NIC, network servers such as RAS, Radius, File and Print server, FTP and Web server.

CCNP certified can execute the LAN/WAN technologies such as VOIP, network security, cable net, firewall and IP routing in enterprise network. CCNP certification is valid for three years and the candidate is required to recertify within three years.

 

CCNP certification is awarded to the candidates on passing the following four individual exams.
1. CCNP BSCI. Building Scalable Cisco Internetworks. Exam Code 642-801
2. CCNP Switching. Building Cisco Multilayer Switched Networks. Exam Code 642-811
3. CCNP Remote Access. Building Cisco Remote Access Networks. Exam Code BCRAN 642-821
4. CCNP CIT. Cisco Internetwork troubleshooting. Exam Code 642-831

 

Cisco’s CCNP Certified network professionals are equipped to install, configure and troubleshoot large LAN and WAN networks.
